We've just moved into a new Prairie Style house. It's our attempt to create a house with a 1910 ish feel while accomodating some 21st century features. The inspiration is more Tallmadge and Watson than Frank Lloyd Wright. The link below is to our blog detailing the process which includes some recent pictures. Excuse the puppy.

http://www.thelegendofoakhollow.com/blog/

I'll let Toshi know she is appreciated. She may be feeling down after having several "accidents". As far as the tile, it's ceramic. I can't remember the exact name, but I can get it for you tomorrow. Unfortunately, I think it's been discontinued. We got it on sale as a closeout. It ended up going very nicely with out color scheme.
Your house is gorgeous and I love Toshi! Is she a Shiba Inu? Very cute.

The tile is "Serengeti Manyaka".

Thanks. Too bad it is discontinued, but it gives me something to go on. The wife likes it, and she is hard to please.

I just started on my house (it's a mess, and need lots of work), but I got a helper; a 80lb. German Shepard named Buddy... SHE is awesome, and stays our of the way of the bad stuff (nails, drills, saws, etc...)

When we were looking at tile, we did find a number of tiles that were similar and that we liked. The one we chose happened to have the colors that we wanted and the fact that it was on sale didn't hurt. You might try some of your local flooring stores. The one we used had several hundred different types of tile.

Beautiful house. (Drooling over your kitchen.) What color is your master bath? I love the Library Pewter in your bedroom. I have seen it on the card a million times and thought it looked very dark, but it looks great on the wall! Adorable pup, too!

Thanks for the comments. The Master Bath is Sherwin Williams Portrait Tone, and the ceiling is Buckroom Binding. At the point we picked it, we just wanted something different, but it actually works pretty well with the white of the fixtures and the dark wood of the trim and cabinets. Neither one of us are real color geniuses, but we're pretty happy with the way things turned out. The house has a very warm sort of feel to it.

Just got a quick look at your blog (have heard the term, but never understood why anyone would actually want to read one), but now I can't wait to read yours! Hubby and I are thinking about doing just what you did, and I can see there's lots of great info in there. And never apologize for a dog picture - what's a house without at least one dog??!!
