I was wondering what type of floor was popular for a 1920's bungalow. In the future we will need to replace our linoleum floor. The rest of the house is hardwood.

Real linoleum -- save what you have if you can! Its nontoxic, environmentally friendly, and hard as steel. Plus its authentic.
Vinyl is NOT linoleum. Look for it at most flooring stores (may be called Marmoleum).

Think about if it really needs to be replaced.
I've been into some old homes with worn linoleum that added charm. It would be hard to replace some of the patterns I've seen.

I've read that fir was quite common. Mine has fir under the "no wax mess", but have yet to tackle that project.

My soon to be former house has oak throughout.....with wide pine planks in the kitchen. My soon to be new house has mostly oak throughout with a switch to maple flooring in the kitchen.

If you want historical accuracy, then linoleum (real linoleum, not vinyl) would be it.
