I've been thinking of putting soapstone countertops in our new kitchen, but I've never met anyone who's had them. Does anyone here have any experience with them?

Thanks.

We were going to do the same thing because we like the way soapstone looks. Then we saw our neighbors countertop, which is matte-finish granite. We felt it had the same basic look, but without the maintenance hassles associated with soapstone. Our contractor feels VERY strongly that we will regret using soapstone due to the amount of maintenance needed and should definitely not use it. So we are going to use the granite.
